What’s New in SPORTS MEDICINE

Sports medicine focuses on the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of injuries related to sports and exercise. ACL and meniscus tears are very common sport injuries. ACL tears occur when the anterior cruciate ligament is stretched or torn, often due to sudden stops or changes in direction. Meniscus tears involve damage to the cartilage in the knee joint and can occur from twisting or rotating the knee while bearing weight.

Orthobiologics are natural substances such as cells, tissue, blood components, and growth factors that are used to aid in the treatment of orthopedic injuries or conditions. They may be used to replace lost tissue, stimulate regeneration, accelerate healing, reduce pain and inflammation, and improve joint function.

What’s New in Robotic Assisted Joint Replacement

Mako Robotic-Arm Assisted Technology provides you with a personalized surgical plan based on your unique anatomy. First, a CT scan of the diseased hip or knee joint is taken. This CT scan is uploaded into the Mako System software, where a 3D model of your hip or knee is created.
