There is more than one way to diagnose hip arthritis, but the most common technique is to take an X-ray of the inflamed hip area. In addition to the x-ray examination, your doctor will also take your medical history and perform a physical examination. The physical examination will focus on the functionality and/or loss or motion in the hip.
